I was really nervous about this race. I wanted to beat my friends Ahsin, Crusader Kingston and Kingston Puru. They all really wanted to beat me so I wanted to beat them. We’ve always had a rivalry between each other but this year we had the biggest rivalry ever. I had practised this whole year for this race. I was motivated to win. I really wanted to win.
Mr Burt said “READY SET GO”. I jogged with my friends. We tried to keep up with the leading pack but we couldn't. It was really embarrassing coming in the last pack while everyone was looking, but I just keep going. Then I got to the mud. It was horrible, my shoes were covered in mud. As I was running I was getting tired because the mud was weighing me down but I just kept going.
As my friends and I went through the bush walk we started walking. I wanted to run but they said “walk”. Then we got to the first bridge and we started running. I found it a lot easier running through the bush walk. But there were lots of slippery places in there. You had to be careful. We started walking because we were tired and then we caught up to some of the 12 year old girls.
They were in our way so we told them to move but they wouldn’t. So we overtook them and we boosted it from them. We got to the point England reserve where we had to do the last lap around it before we head back to school to finish the race. I was just about to jog all around it before my mates said “walk man”. I was getting angry because we were taking long to walk the reserve. We finished the race and I was happy that I did it.
Hi Waata
ReplyDeleteWell done for completing the cross country. Maybe next time you should encourage your friends to run, otherwise you should of kept running. You are a good friend for waiting for your friends though.
