The Memorial Service at Omoto race course for the Pike river Miners was on tv at 2:00 clock in the afternoon on Thursday the 2nd of December 2010 I watched it. It is so sad that they haven't found the body's of the Miners, I think that the families just want to go down and get their loved ones.
Even though the mine had a second explosion I still hoped that they would still be alive but when it had a third explosion my hope slowly drifted away.The Mayor of Greymouth is such a good man he never gives up he just works,works and works.When they have their next election he should be voted Mayor if he wants to run again. I hope that all the families can be happy and that they won't be sad.
Waata I think you've understood very well how all these families must be feeling. That shows a lot of empathy. I too held on to some hope until I saw the explosions coming out of the vents.

Well done Waata. You have written this post with a lot of sensitivity towards the people of Greymouth. I hope like you that they will soon be able to smile and move forward with the good memories they have of the men who passed on during this tragedy. Keep up the good writing Waata.
